Dr. Aileen Reid

Program Evaluator

Dr. Aileen Reid-Co-I is an Assistant Professor in the Educational Research Methodology department and a Senior Fellow in the Office of Assessment, Evaluation, and Research Services (OAERS) at UNC Greensboro. Dr. Reid has expertise in culturally responsive, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and mixed methods research and evaluation, educational measurement and assessment, and organizational change. Dr. Reid leads evaluation on several National Science Foundation (NSF) funded projects and is a co-PI on NSF-funded Spartans ADVANCE: Adaptations of best practices for faculty equity, diversity, and inclusion (1936075 – PI: Glenn), which seeks to recruit, retain and advance minoritized groups and women in the STEM fields.

Dr. Reid also co-directs the STEM Program Evaluation Lab (SPEL) which provides training in research and evaluation for graduate and undergraduate students on 14 STEM education projects. SPEL is unique in that it is modeled after research laboratories that are common in STEM fields. SPEL’s design includes co-directorship by two faculty members, integration of graduate and undergraduate students, commitment to social justice which show up as culturally responsive evaluation practice and anti-racist, equity, diversity, and inclusion training, and funding through sponsored research and evaluation contracts. Dr. Reid leverages her professional experience as an evaluator and program director to work with project leadership teams to move programs toward producing high quality data and integrating formative and summative evaluation into projects to guide planning, mid-course corrections, decision-making, and overall project improvement.
